The information on this document describes how to configure X11Forwarding using Openssh.

Downloading Software

To setup X11Forwarding from a windows client the following software is required.

1. Xserver Software Examples (Xming,Cwyn,Exceed)
http://sourceforge.net/projects/xming/

2. Terminal Emulator Examples (Putty)
http://www.putty.org/

3. Openssh/Openssl Software
https://www14.software.ibm.com/webapp/iwm/web/preLogin.do?source=aixbp

Configuring the AIX Server

Turn on X11Forwarding in /etc/ssh/sshd_config and restart sshd.

#vi /etc/ssh/sshd_config
Find X11Forwarding and make sure its uncommented and set to yes.
X11Forwarding yes

#stopsrc –s sshd
#startsrc –s sshd

Configuring the Windows Client

Install and start the Xserver and putty software on windows.








Start Xming software, if not already running.



Start and Configure Putty.





Login using putty


If everything is working fine, you should be able to run xclock.
#xclock &
